What Do You Use To Haul Your Bikes?

Submitted by Michael W. Hubbard on March 1, 2010 – 9:45 pm3 Comments

This is my 1977 Ford F-100:

My Great-Uncle Bill bought this truck new in 1977. When he died, my father ended up with it. Dad sold it to me about ten years ago. It has about 125,000 miles on it at this time. You might notice that it’s Dallas Cowboys “Away Team” colors: dark blue and silver. It’s quite the bike hauler! I still drive it every week at least once to keep the old fluids flowing. I love this truck!

My next choice for bike hauling is my 2006 Scion xB:

You would be amazed how easily that the mighty little xB can hold not just one but up to three bikes in the interior. The bike above was a lovely Motobecane Mirage that I bought from some scary people in North Richland Hills for $20.00! I like to have the seats folded down and ready to go on these strange Craigslist buying trips to the suburbs.

Vamanos!

I can’t even acknowledge how many bikes you have…

What do I use to haul my bikes around? Primarily, my feet. I rarely drive to somewhere in order to ride my bike. Most often I ride it there, even if it is to the beginning of a group ride. The extra miles do me good.

When I do need to carry it somewhere, I use a bike rack on the back of my Hyundai Elantra.

    Doohickie,

I belatedly see your point. I suppose that I meant when you go to Hurst/Denton/wherever to buy some bike off Craigslist. Or to go to Ft. Worth from Dallas to check out a trail.

I also don’t generally haul my bike somewhere to ride.
