Triking to the Pool
Today is August 15 in Dallas TX. It doesn’t even really matter what year it is: it’s hotter than hell. William Tecumseh Sherman once said, “If I owned Hell and Texas, I’d rent out Texas and live in Hell.”
It’s 102 degrees. I have virtually given up on bike riding until it cools off a bit. However, my friends down the street, the Smiths, have a swimming pool. It doesn’t feel like a bathtub, like most pools at this time of the year, because they have a very shady yard. When they called me today and asked me if I wanted to come over and have a beer, I said, “No, I want two.”
So I loaded up the 1970 Schwinn Town and Country Tri-Wheeler.
I really love an opportunity to use the trike’s carrying capacity. Please note the lovely L.L.Bean bag that my thoughtful wife ordered for me this year. It contains a cooler of beer, a towel, and my swim trunks:
Here is a photo that my wife took of me with my iphone using the “Hipstamatic” app:
I love this app! And here are the Smiths, welcoming me to their pool with their dog Buster:
