TITS Sunday Launches

Submitted by on March 26, 2013 – 11:25 am2 Comments

This week, TITS Sunday is launching a new weekly female-guided social bike ride. As Xina reminds us in the comments, TITS = T.ime I.n T.he S.addle.

Bicycle Breakfast

Information from the new Facebook group (show up to the ride to be invited to the group):

Beginning this Sunday, March 31, we will meet up at Main St. Garden in Downtown Dallas every week. We will be tweaking departure times for at least the first several rides to find out what works. (For this first Sunday ride, we will meet at 11:00 a.m., roll away at 11:30, have a stop at noon to eat & drink, and ride some more.) We will have no set courses, so each Sunday”s ride will be different, up to the whim of the guide, and especially encouraging input from the group. Depending on our Sunday mood and individual experience with riding, we might ride 10 miles, or it could be 30 (or more?)- it’s up to us!
When groups get larger, we can offer a 2-tiered ride for slow and fast riders:
T-10: This is the more beginner-level ride, with a pace averaging 10-14mph and 10-mile (or slightly more) distances. Also known as the A-cups.T-plus: This is the more aggressive-level ride, with a pace averaging 15-20mph and distances of, ?, 15-50? miles. Also known as the B-Cups.Both groups would meet up again at a final destination at approximately the same time for socializing, smack-talking, and nourishment!

If it’s your first time to ride with TITS, please make sure to let us know so we can welcome you and help guide a route that suits your expectations. Please make sure to bring plenty of water and ID, and equip your bike with a rear red reflector. If you have spare tubes, bring ‘em. If you think you might be out ’til dark, state law requires a white headlight and a rear red taillight.

You are responsible for your own experience. Helmets are required by Dallas City Ordinance. If you don’t have one already, our homies at Transit Bicycle Co., Switching Gears Cyclery, or Oak Cliff Bicycle Co. can hook it up with safety gear and much more.

TITS Sunday will ride AS traffic and NOT AGAINST it. We stop at red lights, yield the right of way, are courteous to pedestrians (especially on trails by announcing our approach) and let cars pass as best we can. We don’t block intersections. We are cool to both our fellow riders and the other traffic on the road. If you need to brush up on the rules, click on the first one for Texas Transportation Code and the second for Dallas City Code:
