Trinity River Levee Ride – Dallas, Texas

Submitted by on January 14, 2010 – 8:25 pm8 Comments

We went riding along the Trinity river bottom the other day.  Actually we stayed mostly on top of the levees.  We didn’t have a route in mind, mainly we just wanted to get some ideas for a planned ride as soon as the temps improve.

I think your blog is going to be quite the resource for me when I next venture east on the TRE. This is some great information.

When I saw the Traveler I thought you had an English 3-speed at first. The lines are more similar than I realized. Talk about slack angles, eh?

Mr D, as soon as the weather (and time permits) we’ll be documenting many of the more interesting places to ride here on the “East Side” :-) We’ll also be planning some smaller group rides and we’ve been talking about a Trinity River excursion on mountain (or dirt worthy) bikes for a while now. I’ll make sure you get an invite when we do. And that Schwinn Traveler is a beauty. I keep asking Mike to sell it to me but so far I’m still rolling snake eyes.

Thanks for that link. I actually talked to him a couple months ago when he originally listed it. It appears to be on the small side, at least for me and I have been unable to talk myself into driving all the way to him to confirm it. Something like that is on my to-get list for this year. I need to sell a couple bikes and finish a couple more before I add anything new. I can barely move around in my garage now and for some reason my wife doesn’t view this as a positive development.

  • The Peugeot looks mighty good in the wild; those Porteur bars!!

  • Mike says:

That Peugeot that Chris restored is just beautiful. It elicited many comments on our last group ride.

What’s the best way to get to the levee? I’m a cycler and a photographer and would love this.

MB, check out the Trinity Trails here http://www.trinityrivercorridor.com/html/trinity_trails.html
