Shades of Gray and the Electra Ticino 16D

Submitted by on December 31, 2010 – 11:07 am2 Comments

When I was a kid I went everywhere on a bicycle.  I’d leave in the morning and come back close to dinner time.  Spending the day exploring the city was a common activity.  With a family (and a day job) spending that kind of time on a bike doesn’t happen nearly as often as I’d like but last Thursday the kids were away and my wife had to work so this was a perfect opportunity to spend the day in the saddle.

I recently bought an Electra Ticino 16D and the highs were going to be in the 70s, so this would be a perfect chance for me to get some riding in.  My buddy Dennis showed up about 9am and from North Dallas we took the Cottonwood Trail, Katy Trail and numerous neighborhood streets on our way downtown.  We returned home about 5pm. We had a great time.

The forecast called for sunshine but as you can tell in the photos we never saw any, which wasn’t too bad considering the perfect temperatures.

I’ll be writing a complete review of the Electra Ticino 16D soon. Full review found here.

Chris started riding a bike again when he noticed the Preston Ridge Trail being constructed across the street from his house. Since then he co-founded Biking in Dallas, has gone through countless Craigslist bike projects (some better than others) and can be found pedaling around town on a Electra Ticino with a camera in tow.
