Seen at the Smurf Boy

For many cyclists in the DFW area, mountain biking is the ticket to bike joy. This might come as a surprising fact to folks who are new to the area…. the terrain around here isn’t exactly what you’d expect to be ideal for off-road cycling. However, thanks to amazing local organizations like DORBA and North Texas Mountain Bike Patrol (NTMBP), Dallas boasts many fantastic trails to get your bike dirty.

This weekend kicked off the first of the Smurf Boy Endurance Series mountain bike races organized by the NTMBP. Mountain bikers from all over the area set up at Rowlett Creek Preserve for the four hour endurance race. This was my first to check out, so I really had no idea what to expect. What I found was an exciting evening of intense energy and a lot of great folks. Cyclists can enter as individuals or small teams, and all skill levels are welcome.

The next race is July 13 at River Legacy, followed by Cedar Hill State Park on July 27. Visit the Facebook page for more information. Hope to see you there!
