Seen at the Nasher Sculpture Center 10 Year Anniversary and Bike Rack Coming Out Party

Festive and colorful are two words that come to mind when describing the 10 year anniversary shindig at the Nasher Sculpture Center.   I don’t know if I’ve ever seen more people wandering about taking photos and I was certainly one of them.

This was also the “coming out” party for the two newly installed bike racks, one set on each end of the building.  By the time I got there the bike racks were filling up so I was not able to get a clean shot of the racks alone.  They are are an array of of stainless steel circles that you simply lock your bike onto (you probably guessed that one).  A very clean and simple design which compliments the building and broader area for that matter.  They are neither over artistic nor do they scream “BIKE RACK”.  I appreciated the subtle presence.

It didn’t take long for both bike racks to fill up and since bikes are not welcome inside most of the photographs taken are of the amazing sights to be enjoyed inside the Nasher.   And for the record, I believe the Nasher is the first of the Dallas Arts District members to provide bike racks and they are certainly the first to host a happy hour for cyclists.  We hope this is a trend.

Chris started riding a bike again when he noticed the Preston Ridge Trail being constructed across the street from his house. Since then he co-founded Biking in Dallas, has gone through countless Craigslist bike projects (some better than others) and can be found pedaling around town on a Electra Ticino with a camera in tow.
