Schwinn Super LeTour

Submitted by Christopher Curnutt on December 6, 2009 – 6:12 amNo Comment

I bought this Chicago made Schwinn LeTour from a woman who purchased it in Dallas during a bus strike during the 70s (or did she say it was the 80s?).  She used it as a commuter for decades and it showed.  The paint had a significant amount of scrapes and the “LeTour” decals were pretty much goners.

I spent quite a bit of time removing the grime and getting the chrome to shine again.  I replaced the handlebars with upright ones, added new shift and brake cables, and a leather saddle.  Sadly the frame was just too small for me so I sold it to a really nice college student who was thrilled to own it.

It’s a cool feeling to fix a bike up and see it in the hands of someone who really appreciates it.
