Katy and White Rock Trail Updates in Today’s Dallas Morning News

Submitted by on August 15, 2010 – 10:08 pm2 Comments

Good news!

I have been wondering about the status of these trails, bridges, etc., and this morning’s Sunday Edition of the Dallas Morning News provided some input. It’s looking like we’re closer and closer to linking up these East Dallas portions of the trails that are so important to the whole city: read about it here.

And even more here.

How exciting!

You can’t ride your bike on the “closed sections”…its too crowded. It really is lovely though. For less experienced riders, the rail grade flattens out some of the steep hills that use to scare people off on Santa Fe or Lindsley.

It is nice, especially the part from Randall Park/Woodrow Wilson High School back toward Grand Ave. Years ago (1993), my wife and I passed on buying a house that we were renting on Casa Loma right there at West Shore. I have always kind of kicked myself about it, since the real estate values over there basically quadrupled right after we moved. Now that bike trail is about four blocks from that same house that I didn’t buy. I’m glad to have another reason to feel bad about that decision!
