Inaugural Greater Dallas 100
This upcoming FREE bike ride is being Bikin’ Mike and a few cohorts. Set your calendar for it.. this will be a unique one for Dallas! Be sure to RSVP on the Facebook event. Here’s the details:
A FREE Bike Ride on May 19, 2013!
Many cyclists in Dallas believe that the city is getting an unfair reputation as being unfriendly to bicycle riders. So, a handful of Dallas area cyclists are working on a new bike ride in the DFW metro area called the Greater Dallas 100.
The Greater Dallas 100 will use a special format that does not have entry fees, a mass start or a finish line. Here is how it works:
Interested cyclists will travel from their home by bicycle or car to the nearest point of Belt Line Road. Then, they will ride on Belt Line Road in any direction they choose. They can ride a short route by going out and back – or they can do the full loop for 100 miles. The Greater Dallas 100 is self-supported and self-determined – it is YOUR ride.
Use the money you would usually pay for a ride to buy snacks and drinks along the way.
Invite friends and or family to join you for more fun.
Just remember to ride legally. Obey all traffic laws and be a responsible road user.
If you plan to ride, all you need to do is LIKE this event and we will know you are planning to ride.
PLUS, invite all your cycling friends to participate in the Greater Dallas 100.
Let’s start turning Dallas into one of the most bicycle friendly cities in the nation.
Can’t argue with that! Where will you start?

Holy crap, Mike! I didn’t realize that was almost exactly 100 miles. That is wicked! I like the idea. Not sure I’d want to ride on Belt Line in Addison, but I’m with you the rest of the way. :-)
Don M
Don, the beauty of this ride is that you can pick & choose whatever lengths and segments you’d like to do!
I like the idea but to be clear this is not “supported” right? We just show up where and ride?
I believe the post answers your questions.
