Help the Grove Start a Bike Share Program
The Grove, Dallas is Dallas’ newest coworking community, and the first to be located within the Downtown area, in the Historic West End District. Our community represents a diverse ecosystem that includes startups, change-agents, freelancers, and mentors. We hold the values of Collaborative Consumption, Resource Sharing, and Knowledge Sharing at the core of our activities while challenging the traditional models of work and collaboration.
With this in mind, one of our current goals is to create a Bike Share Program for our members. Being centrally located in Downtown Dallas, we want our members to be able to take a bike to Klyde Warren for lunch, to Uptown for a client meeting, or even to their home at night as an alternative to using their car as a primary mode of transportation for their commute.
In order to make this dream a reality, we are currently partnering with one of our members, Daniel Garippa who is in charge of The Bicycle Garden. They take in donated bicycles of all kinds, retool them from the ground up, and then sell them to the public. Within that program, they also operate an 8 week mentorship course for local students teaching them how to rebuild bikes from the ground up. At the end of the program, the students receive a bike of their own. You can read more about The Bicycle Garden at here.
The Grove, Dallas is currently seeking partners in the biking community to sponsor our Bike Share Program. We need shops and organizations that will fund the purchasing of 10 bicycles (5 men’s, 5 women’s) that will be branded with The Grove logo, as well as with the sponsoring shop/organizations branding, and used on an almost daily basis for transportation by our members. Once the bikes have been purchased and branded, we will be doing a media push to all major news outlets as well as through our social media channels that will highlight the sponsors and participants in the program.
We believe this partnership will be valuable to all involved, from true monetary & community support for an amazing program such as The Bicycle Garden, a great branding and collaboration opportunity for the cycling community in Dallas, and a viable option of resource sharing for our members. We would love the opportunity to show you our space, talk a bit more about our community, and dream about the Dallas that we want to create together.
