I don't remember where I read this, but I recall reading something a while back about how managers at GM get to drive a GM car, but rather than gain insight into their customers, they were actually insulated from their customers' experience because:
* They got to trade in the car every year or two for the newest model.
* They could fill up the car for free at the GM headquarters gas pumps.
* All repairs and maintenance was done by GM at no cost to the managers.

So the upshot was that the managers didn't get to experience how the car performed over the long term, they were insulated from the cost of gas over time for that particular car, and the cost of repairs. If the story is true, it's not hard to see why they're so out of touch with reality.

A few car makers have promoted bikes with their cars. Volkswagen had a promotion years ago that included a Trek with a Jetta purchase, it came with a roof rack as well. GM would do well to get on that train and do so quickly.

Oh, I had no idea about that! I just meant that Subarus are designed for people with outdoor lifestyles and you can take pretty much any Subaru and stuff a couple of bikes in it, or a couple of large dogs, and put a kayak on top. Even their sport-ish car, the WRX, has rear seats that fold flat and it can fit 2 bikes in the car that way. GM is just clueless.

If GM was smart they'd realize that a lot of cyclists have at least 1 car in the family... but Subaru already has them beat there.
