Death on the Katy Trail
I was shocked to read this in today’s Dallas Morning News. This collision occurred last Thursday (09-30-2010), the day before we rode down the Katy Trail to the State Fair.
I’m very sorry for everyone involved, and I extend my condolences to the family of the runner that died. It certainly underscores the very real hazards of these busy trails. I witnessed a collision last weekend between a man on a road bike and a boy around the age of five at White Rock Lake on the bike trail. The boy’s parents weren’t paying any attention to the many children with them. Personally, I’d still rather compete with the people on the trail than with automobiles.
Let’s all be careful out there.
