Blue Plate Special on the West Side Bike Path

Submitted by Michael W. Hubbard on February 4, 2010 – 5:07 pm2 Comments

This is the first submission from our intrepid reporter-at-large in The Big Apple, Mr. W. The “West Side Bike Path” shown here is the amazingly beautiful path down the west side of the Island of Manhattan. The bike in the photo is Mr. W’s “Blue Plate Special”, a bare-bones, single-speed city bike. I have ridden this very bike all over Manhattan and found it to be a very comfortable and effective ride.

The ice on the Hudson River was shocking to me when I first saw this photo (the photo was taken today by iphone by Mr. W). I’ve never seen that before, but I’ve never been to NYC in the winter, either.

Imagine landing a 747 out there, like that pilot did last year.

Thank you, Mr. W!
