Bike Bridge Up: Santa Fe Trail, meet White Rock Lake
They did it. The first half went up Tuesday night. Here is a view looking southbound on Garland Rd.
Another view southbound:
And a view northbound:
Last night, during a pretty crazy thunderstorm, they put in the other half. Way to go, combined governmental agencies!
There is still more work to do. They have to put a concrete deck on this bridge and finish the bridge crossing over Winsted Dr. that completes the link to White Rock Lake (and to North Dallas, and Richardson and Plano!)
The bottom line? We should all be riding this by the end of the year, and then I’ll be riding this to my office and to downtown. This bike corridor will tranform this part of town in many ways.

Awesome! Thanks for the pics.
I am looking forward to that completion!
No problem, thanks for looking!
Much thanks for this beautiful bridge should go to our former bicycle coordinator, PM Summer. He pushed the funding for it through to completion.
Thank you, Mr. Sumner! I’m all for giving credit where credit is due.
Too bad I live in DeSoto. All we have down here is The Roy Orr Trail; its beautiful but short. I have never rode on those two trails but I will love to catch the train there. Major thumbs up for Dallas.
David,
Right now you can get off at the White Rock DART station and you’re right at the juncture of the White Rock Creek Trail where it hits the White Rock Lake Trail. Soon, there will be more and better access, but I say go for it!

This bridge makes me happy! I’ve been waiting for this since it was announced and the Santa Fe Trail was opened.
